The Young Architects Forum presents… Designing a better Springfield:
GRN:BOX DESIGN COMPETITION
GRN:BOX is a two-phased juried competition to design a recycling receptacle for the City of Springfield focusing to generate awareness and response to environmental concerns that affect our community. The challenge is to design a functional, aesthetically pleasing and maintainable recycling receptacle that can ultimately be manufactured and integrated into downtown Springfield. The competition is open to all interested parties.
All entries will be displayed at First Friday Art Walk, location to be determined. A bipartisan panel of judges, to be announced, will select finalists based on aesthetics, durability, accessibility, construction, and maintenance appropriate for the City of Springfield.
Phase I
Call for Entries: First Friday Art Walk: June 1, 2007
Phase I Submittals Due: 3:00p.m. Monday July 30, 2007
Phase I Submittals Displayed: First Friday Art Walk: August 3, 2007
A stipend will be awarded to each of the finalists selected by a panel of judges.
Phase II
Phase II Prototype manufacturing Due: First Friday Art Walk: September 7, 2007
Announcement of Winners: First Friday Art Walk: October 3, 2007
Prize money will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Award recipients receive featured coverage in Landscape Architecture magazine and in many other design and construction industry and general interest media. Residential category professional award recipients will also be featured in Garden Design magazine.
